Aura
Aura is a
short album of abstract and ambient atmospheres, with some very
textured, organic music. Aura is music for reflection. After working with
loops and a lot of rhythm on The
Light Dreams II, I wanted to try
something in contrast. The ‘dream’ tracks had
proven interesting and full of potential, so I wanted to
explore a more atmospheric, minimalistic approach. As a result,
the music of Aura is quite abstract. I also started manipulating
sounds and playing with the GarageBand presets a little more
with this album, and I feel that this was where I really
started to find my own “sound”.
A walk by the sea as the sun sets. The
sunlight tearing through dark clouds, after a storm. Life at
the bottom of the ocean. Old memories - so close, yet so far.
Llying in the middle of a large field, on a summer’s day.
Looking up at the sky, and picking up scents of freshly cut
grass and creosote, blowing past in the cool breeze. Peter
Davison playing Doctor Who in the early 80s. An invisible breath,
emanation, or radiation. A distinctive but intangible quality
that seems to surround a person or thing. Time moving forward,
while we yearn for the past.
