Into the Light
Into the Light brings
together world music elements with heavy electronica. It is an
instrumental soundscape of dreamy atmospheres and other-worldly
scenarios. Although for me there is a strong sense of fantasy
in the music here, I really wanted the listener to be able to
interpret it and relate to it in their own way.
With Into the
Light I really felt like I was
finally making the sort of music I had set out to do. It ends
with a ten-minute epic track of evolving styles and
atmospheres, which was quite an experimental and ambitious piece of music to make.
The cover artwork, is for once not my own, but a painting by renowned British Space Artist David A Hardy, called "Prequel - Explosion of a Nova". I first came across the image in David's book, Futures: 50 Years in Space, which chronicles David's work from the 1950s to present day. The moment I saw it, I just felt it matched the music I was making so perfectly.
The title however, was originally inspired by a dream I had, where I had been shot, and was suddenly aware of travelling out of my body, towards a blinding white light. I woke up before I reached the light. Perhaps this album illustrates what I might have seen next...
