Synthesis
I set myself the challenge of producing
one track per day, for a week.
Purely improvised, with no drums anywhere.
Although I didn't quite stick to
one track per day, the mini-album did come
together in the space of seven
days.
As a synaesthete, colour is important to
the music - even if it's only in my
head. With Synthesis I had envisaged colours and textures in
constant
evolution with the music, and the
sminimalistic album cover grew out of the same idea.
The music of Synthesis grew out of a project I started after
Tranquility,
focussing purely on dreamy atmospheres and trying to
achieve a sense of spirituality and calm
through music. I denied myself the
use of any rhythm tracks and made sure the
music wasn't too dense or
layered. The final running time of Synthesis was
less than 30
minutes, therefore a perfect album to put
on and chill out to; escape and
drift away.
