Hibernus V

Arctic imagery has always fascinated me – some of the most stunning and beautiful parts of the world, yet also the most dangerous and turbulent. There is something strangely alluring about the sense of solitude and isolation one must feel in such a vast, cold place.

Hibernus V was also partly inspired by French writer/explorer Sylvain Tesson's self-shot film of his experience of spending 6 months alone in a log cabin on Russia's Lake Baikal (click here for a preview).

29 x 36cm, digital, 2012. Created in Photoshop CS5 and Intuos4 tablet.
