Planet of Fire

The first of two pieces based on the same starting point. The end result is perhaps the same scene but from two very different points in time. I tried a different painting technique for Planet of Fire – starting off with a greyscale sketch and working over that using the overlay setting on the airbruch in Photoshop, which gives an extra vibrancy to the colours needed to portray the volcanic heat.
